On August 9, 2025, ALAYA Ministries hosted our Mental Health Through Art Workshop at the Missouri City Branch Library in Texas. This inspiring event was facilitated by Stephanie Davis, M.Ed., LPC-S, a licensed mental health therapist dedicated to helping individuals navigate their emotional wellness journey.
The workshop created a safe, welcoming space for participants to explore the healing power of art as a pathway toward mental health and personal growth.

Why Art and Mental Health Go Hand in Hand
Art is more than just creativity—it’s a form of therapy. When words fall short, colors, shapes, and images give our emotions a voice. Research has shown that engaging in creative activities like painting, journaling, or crafting can:
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Improve mood and self-esteem
- Promote relaxation and mindfulness
- Help process difficult emotions in a safe way
- Strengthen problem-solving and coping skills
For many participants, this workshop was an opportunity to experience firsthand how art can support mental health wellness by creating a sense of calm, clarity, and empowerment.

A Safe Space for Expression
Our Mental Health Through Art workshop was nothing short of a God-ordained moment. Sometimes it’s not about the quantity of people in the room—it’s about the quality of connection and the hearts that are touched.
From start to finish, God showed up in the details. The conversations were deep, the creativity was flowing, and the atmosphere was filled with love, encouragement, and healing. One of the most beautiful moments was when participants were given the chance to do freestyle art—painting whatever came to mind to relax, express themselves, or capture how they felt in that moment. The results were powerful, raw, and full of heart.
Our Mission in Action
The Mental Health Through Art Workshop reflects ALAYA Ministries’ mission to provide leadership skills and essential resources for personal and professional growth. By blending creativity with wellness, we empower individuals to build resilience, nurture their mental health, and become stronger leaders in their communities.
